What is AIG and SSA?
AIG is an identification process that provides enrichment in the public schools for students and the label of AIG provides guidance for instruction to be designed for those who need to work together with like peers in a challenging environment. The testing process can reoccur every 12 months starting after the 3rd grade if needed for English/Language Arts and for Mathematics if a student does not at first qualify yet is showing skills 2 years above their grade level peers. Once a student is identified then they will maintain that identification through middle and high school for instruction purposes and for college applications.
SSA is a process of having a student test to show that they are proficient in math or in language arts. The need for acceleration is for a student to advance to the next course or grade level for instruction in a single subject. Parents who would like for their student to be tested to see if they qualify for acceleration will attend a county regional meeting or meet with the SSA coordinator at your current school in the spring semester. The purpose of the meeting is to review procedures, look at current year success on grade level quarterly benchmarks, to review report card results and to sign county forms for testing.
